You will be introduced to a range of mindfulness practices and the sessions will be mainly experiential. Some background theory will be given and there will be time for participants to explore the relevance of mindfulness to their own lives, particularly in relation to hearing loss.

About this course
Identify a range of mindfulness practices.
Discuss and list ways in which mindfulness may be helpful for your particular hearing needs.
Describe some key underlying principles of mindfulness, both in formal practice and in daily life.
Revise techniques and discuss how to take this work forward if you want to.
Because of the nature of this course there are no examinations, materials or extra costs. However, students are asked to wear comfortable clothing, a reading list will be provided on the day for those who want to study further.
Mindfulness divides into formal practice and everyday awareness - you will have opportunities to explore both approaches and the teacher will guide you throughout the session. There will be some self-observation and work in small groups and pairs. This course will be taught in spoken English (not BSL) by a teacher who has uses mindfulness techniques daily to help manage his own hearing loss. A radio aid will be available for hearing aid users who have a loop setting.
