The course uses movement as a tool for gaining a deep understanding of the elements of music. It places practice before theory and encourages experience and discovery. It improves rhythmic expression, aural perception, sight-reading skill, and creative confidence. It is suitable for those wanting to gain insight into the Dalcroze approach, either for their own musicianship or for their teaching practice.

About this course
• Demonstrate improved musicality
• Perform musical repertoire with greater physical flexibility and co-ordination
• Sight-read rhythm and pitch with greater confidence and accuracy
• Identify rhythm and pitch relationships in different meters and tonalities
• Improvise vocally with greater confidence
• Demonstrate greater body awareness, confidence and co-ordination.
Students should wear comfortable clothing that does not restrict movement. All movement activities are done with bare feet. Students will need to bring a notepad, some manuscript paper and a pencil.
