This course is not for 'Absolute Beginners'but can be completed by relative novices. You must be familiar with common computer software, computer and internet terminology and have experience in using e-mail and the internet.
A good level of English is required and all students will be asked to sit a basic literacy assessment to ensure they are at the right level for this course.

PROGRAMME CONTENT/STRUCTURE
An ideal course for parents, individuals and organisations involved with youngsters or the vulnerable who may have internet access, or indeed anyone who uses the internet and email and is worried about online safety. The Award in Internet Safety will raise your awareness about possible threats and issues involved in using online services, how to recognise these threats, how to avoid them and how to prevent them from occurring. The course content includes:
-Recognising and understanding malicious software (viruses, Trojans, worms etc)
-Internet dangers (hacking, phishing, paharming, ID theft, cyber bullying & grooming)
-Internet Defences
-The Internet & the law (Copyright, downloading music & movies, data protection, etc)

Not applicable.

Although this course will be of use to anyone wishing to study any of our other IT courses such as web design, the European Computer Driving Licence, CompTIA Strata and CompTIA A+ IT support course or indeed any general IT courses.
