About this course
You should check the level of this course to see if it matches your ability. Just an interest in historic buildings and history. You must have the mobility to travel to and walk round places of interest not all of which are wheelchair. Some of the oldest buildings will have steps and there may be no lift available. Public transport may be used to get to the walk area.

Course content:
From Gothic to the Gherkin, from Tudor to the Tube from Victorian to Vishnu temple, the architecture of London is wide and varied. This course will consist mainly of visits to buildings within Zone 1 though there will be introductory classroom sessions.
At the end of the course you will
Be able to recognise most styles of English architecture exemplified in London buildings.
Be able to name some English architects and some of their works
Have visited 25-30 buildings in London of significant architectural interest.
Course Structure:
Two hours' walk weekly, Introductory classroom sessions in autumn and summer terms.
Course resources:
A variety of buildings from all periods of architecture. Warm clothes and comfortable shoes.
Assessment:
Teacher feedback. Self assessment with individual Student Progress Records.
Next step:
Visits to other buildings recommended by tutor and not covered by the course. Further courses on buildings at STC.

When information is available you will notice 2 different fees stated for this course. The fee you pay is dependent on your status:
Fee 1: Standard fee;
Fee 2: Aged 60+ years fee
Students in receipt of an income-based benefit pay £20 per course per term.
You will need to bring proof of age and any benefits when you enrol.
You DO NOT have to pay a college registration fee for these courses, but you may have to pay for additional course materials.Materials costs:
None, but some buildings may require entrance fees but no more than £20 per term. You may wish to bring a notebook and pen to make notes.
