Is the course for me?
The aim of the programme is to provide you with basic skills in Carpentry and Joinery and for you to obtain a Level 1 City and Guilds certificate. The course is designed for people who want to develop their carpentry and joinery skills either for progression to higher level courses or for recreational purposes.

What will I learn?
For you to obtain the award of the certificate, the satisfactory completion of a series of practical activities is required. The activities focus on forming basic joints (Dovetail joints, Mortice and tenon joints, Bridle joints etc.) and correct tool handling skills together with developing accuracy and attention to detail.

How will I be assessed?
All the necessary knowledge and guidance will be given enabling you to progress through the programme. Your progress will be continually assessed and you will be given instant feedback, ensuring that your skills and knowledge are developing.

What can I do after the course?
Following successful completion of the course you could progress to a Diploma in Carpentry and Joinery.
