This course is for 16-24 year olds who are already working in relevant employment. You must be working at least 16 hours per week in a childcare environment. You must start this course before your 25th birthday. This course is FREE to the learner.

Children's Care, Learning and Development Apprenticeship

Level: Level 2

Course content:
South Thames College offers a range of Apprenticeships designed to help young employees gain a nationally recognised qualification whilst they work and to improve career and promotion prospects. You will have to attend college one day per week.
NVQ 2 in Children's Care, Learning & Development including:
  • Contribute to positive relationships, help to keep children safe, support children's development, use support to develop own practice in children's care, learning and development, prepare to maintain environments to meet children's needs and support children's playing learning.
  • Key skills in numeracy, communication and IT


Course Structure:
Learners spend one day per week at the college. The apprenticeship takes between 12 to 18 months to complete.

Course resources:
All students have access to our fully equipped state of the art learning centre. This included free internet access.

Assessment:
Each unit is assessed by either oral or written assessment. The qualification is accredited through a portfolio of work and a written exam. The college assessor will also visit you in your workplace.
