Course aims:
Budding filmmakers will be able to develop their creative skills in a new media course at City College.
The course covers HD camera work, lighting techniques, pre-production planning, script development, location filming, editing and sound design.
Working in crews, you will research and rotate roles and responsibilities, produce a synopsis and treatments in preparation for a pitching session and develop the successful scripts into a 5 minute short film.

Course content:
On this course you will learn about:
  • High Definition Sony Z1 camera operations
  • technical instruction
  • lighting techniques
  • pre-production planning
  • script development
  • location filming
  • Final Cut Pro editing
  • sound design
  • screening and evaluation of the final product.


Facilities for students:
The College has a new iMac suite that will give all students access to their own edits, broadcast quality cameras and sound recording equipment, as well as the possibility of lone working outside of class time.

Home/EU students tuition fees (per year) : 300.00

If you are under 19 on 31st August 2009 you do not have to pay Tuition Fees, the College Registration, Awarding Body Registration or Exam/Assessment Fees. However, you will have to pay any Resource Fees. Under 19s entering Higher Education will have to pay full costs.
