Course Description
The course aims to explore a range of jewellery metals, techniques and processes, developing on skills and knowledge previously acquired. There will be opportunity for individual input in terms of design and contribution, subject to guidance and skill level. Students will learn skills enabling them to produce items of jewellery. Advice will be given on working from home. Aspects of health and safety are a key area and will be embedded throughout the course.
Course Content
- Use a selection of specialised tools and equipment.
- Practice and develop a range of basic Jewellery and Metalwork techniques and processes.
- Work in a safe manner following health and safety protocols.
- Work with/observe different materials - the tutor will demonstrate using copper and silver (and titanium if desired).
- Produce a selection of wearable jewellery pieces.
Selected practical jewellery projects will be undertaken on a weekly basis and these will act as a vehicle for Jewellery and Metalwork skills learning. Teaching and learning will take place through practical demonstrations together with individual and group tutorials.
Method of Assessment
Summative assessment of finished work as well as ongoing appraisal.
Equipment and Additional Costs
The College will provide all necessary tools and equipment. Materials may be purchased via the course tutor and costs will vary according to individual choice.
