Course content:
This course is open to anyone, with or without hearing loss and is aimed to restore normal life through lip reading.
Development of communication skills, memory, concentration, and observation, which are all related to good lip-reading. Practice in following different people in conversation, and understanding longer passages of work By the end of the course students will be able to:
- recognise more difficult speech sounds and shapes
- identify speech sounds looking the same, and those that those that are invisible
- follow longer sentences and understand a short passage of text
Course Structure:
Each week a different sound is taken and demonstrated by various topics. The learners contribute to discussions, and there is a chance to socialise during the coffee break. Information on equipment and aids is also available, and the atmosphere of the class is friendly and welcoming.

The teacher has a comprehensive reading list. All students have access to our fully equipped state of the art learning centre. This included free internet access.

When information is available you will notice 2 different fees stated for this course. The fee you pay is dependent on your status:
Fee 1: Standard fee;
Fee 2: Aged 60+ years fee
Students in receipt of an income-based benefit pay £20 per course per term.
You will need to bring proof of age and any benefits when you enrol.
You DO NOT have to pay a college registration fee for these courses, but you may have to pay for additional course materials.Materials costs:
