Singing: Make the Most of Your Voice
Level: Level 1
Course content:
The course covers the basics of singing - posture, breathing, vowel production, articulation, phrasing. Students practise warm-up and other exercises to develop technique and range and learners have the opportunity to sing solo and in part songs with others.
By the end of the course you will be able to:
Adopt the correct posture for singing.
Breathe correctly to enhance your singing.
Join with others in singing group songs and part songs.
Have the confidence to sing solo in front of others.
prepare a suitable piece for auditions.
Please bring sheet music of songs you would like to sing solo. This is not essential as we carry a vast stock of music but if you have a particular choice bring it. Also a cassette tape to record your efforts.
Course Structure:
Course will in part be negotiated with group but each week will include solo and choral singing of works from a variety of musical genres.
Course resources:
All students have access to our fully equipped state of the art learning centre. This included free internet access.
Assessment:
Teacher feedback Individual learning plans. Student and peer self-assessment. Sharing of work in group.
Next step:
You may do another term on this course or develop your singing further by joining a choir or other music group outside of college. You might apply to join a choir, choral society or amateur dramatic society.

Fee 1: Standard fee;
Fee 2: Aged 60+ years fee
Students in receipt of an income-based benefit pay £20 per course per term.
You will need to bring proof of age and any benefits when you enrol.
You DO NOT have to pay a college registration fee for these courses, but you may have to pay for additional course materials.Materials costs:
