Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector Year 2 Diploma / PGCE

Course content:
The Year 2 of the Diploma leads to fully qualified teacher status in the lifelong learning sector. It conforms to the new Government standards for teacher training. If you are a graduate you will be able to achieve at HE Level 6, meaning you will be awarded the Professional Graduate Certificate in Education
You will study 3 modules (each worth 20 higher education credits) the modules will build on your Year 1 work and will also allow you to consider:

-Approaches to Delivering Your Specialist Subject
-New Legislation Linked to Education
-Professionalism
Curriculum Studies

Course Structure:
Input sessions; workshops; assessed teaching practice; assessed assignments; observations of experienced teachers.

Course resources:
You will have access to: the College Learning Centre, ICT, books, CDs, videos, DVDs and will be provided with handouts to support your learning

Assessment:
You will be observed teaching on a number of occasions; in addition, the different modules will require you to present, write essays, carry out research and keep a professional development record.

Next step:
Apply to QTLS (Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills) status with the Institute for Learning. Some may also want to move onto the foundation degree or BA (Hons) in Lifelong Learning.

The fee where stated is an 'INCLUSIVE FEE' for UK/EU students. This fee includes the tuition fee, examination fee and exam board registration fee. You may have to pay extra for materials for the course. If you are under 19 years or you are in receipt of an income related benefit the course and exam fee is FREE. Students aged 60+ years pay 70% of this fee. Students aged 19+ will also have to pay a College Registration Fee of £30 (or £20 if you receive benefit) once per academic year.Materials costs:
