PATHWAYS-Entry Level 3 Cookery

Course Aims:
To support the development of both personal and practical learner skills and knowledge in a vocational area providing the opportunity to move into further learning and training.

Course Content:
The course is made up of a number of individual units:
Three units are linked to personal and social development and are:
*Undertaking an Enterprise project- Includes all aspects from planning and advertising to selling a product
* Healthy Lifestyles- including diet and fitness
*Developing Personal Confidence and Self Awareness - Including strengths, weaknesses and setting personal targets

The vocational units include
Health and Safety
Customer Service
Developing Domestic Skills
Developing Skills for Shopping in your home
Developing Skills for Table Setting in your Home
Developing Skills for a Healthy lifestyle
Introduction to Food , Drink and Cooking
A variety of additional units are also available on sucessful completion of the mandatory units.

Functional skills in Maths, English and ICT are also included at the appropriate individual level.

Progression:
Level One Diploma in Introduction to Professional Cookery or other level one programmes.

Awarding Body:
National Open College Network (NOCN)

Exam:
Each unit will be assessed by practical, written and oral evidence .

Qualification:
NOCN Diploma in Skills Towards Enabling progression. (Step-Up)

Level:
Entry Level 3

Professional Appearance:
Appearance is of vital importance to promote high standards of professionalism and health and safety.You will be required to purchase a Chefs uniform and safety shoes for working in the kitchens and wear the appropriate uniform front of house. Full details of kit and uniform will be explained at interview.

Duration:
1 year over 3 or 4 days per week.
