What will I learn?
This programme is part of the Foundation Learning Tier and provides opportunities for learners who may have learning difficulties and/or disabilities aged 16-25 to gain credits and certificates up to and including Entry Level 3. Pathways to Independent Living includes personal development, personal safety, relationships, supported work skills and functional skills (literacy, numeracy and ICT). Learners will be actively encouraged to develop their confidence and skills to support their lifestyle within the local community. Some learners may progress to the Pathways to Employment programme.
How will I be taught?
Learners will experience a range of teaching styles, including working in small groups and 1:1 tutorial sessions with their Personal Tutor. Each group has an attached Support Worker, who works with the teaching staff to encourage learners to become more independent and develop their own learning skills. Learners will be using computers, computer aids where needed, such as adapted keyboards and screens; interactive whiteboards, digital cameras and join in practical activities within their programme, which may include working in the College shop, carpentry, catering, gardening and sports.
How will I be assessed?
Your progress will be assessed through regular meetings with your Personal Tutor. You will also work towards achieving ASDAN and City & Guilds certificates.
What could I do next?
