Safetycor provides two types of patient handling course:
- An annual half-day refresher
- A full-day course for new staff
The aim of these courses is to provide delegates with sufficient knowledge, understanding, and practical skills to undertake patient handling tasks in a safe manner.
Our course tutor is a registered health professional with over 20 years of practical patient handling experience.
In addition, our tutor holds a Post Graduate Certificate in Clinical Education and current health authority certification to teach patient handling.

These courses can be tailored to specific care/residential home and hospital requirements and need to be held on-site using your equipment.
When and where will courses be held?
This course is run strictly on an in-company basis. Therefore, subject to tutor availability, we can make this programme available to organisations at a time to suit them. The venues and refreshments are to be made available by the client.
Course details
The course programme covers the following main sections:
- Facts, figures and the types of manual handling injuries that occur
- The relevant regulations and legal requirements, in particular the Manual Handling Operations Regulations, 1992.
- The anatomy of the spine and possible injuries
- Weights and loads, biomechanics, and the principles of good handling
- Risk assessments
- Practical patient handling techniques
