Specialist Diploma in Hospitality (Level 2)(2010/2011)
Study Method:
The course will be delivered in local LBBD Secondary Schools in partnership with Barking College. Addditionally, Specialist Diploma Students will be required to undertake the equivalent of two weeks work experience during the two year course.
The course comprises of six strands, namely Principal Learning, Generic Learning, Work Expereince, Functional Skills (English, Maths and ICT), Specialist Learning, Personal Learning and Thinking Skills (PLTS) and an Individual Project on a related topic.
Duration :Part-time for two years
Who the Course is For:
This course is designed to be delivered in conjunction with LBBD Secondary Schools and will provide Year 10 and Year 11 Students with an alternative to traditional GCSE Courses. The course represents three option blocks and will introduce students to the Hospitality Industry.
Assessment:
This course is assessed by a vareity of diffenent methods based on the components outlined in the Course Study Methods. However, it is essential to note that a candidate must pass all six components in order to gain their qualification.
Course Leads To:
C&G 7100 Diploma in Professional Cookery, NVQ Level 1 Food Preparation and Cookery, NVQ Level 1 Food and Drink Service or Hospitality, Travel and Tourism Introductory Diploma.

This award will give students a solid crounding in the hospitality sector and would progress onto more specific vocational course should the student wish too.
