Sport and Active Leisure Diploma Diploma

Qualification: 2 year course

Course type: Level 3 (advanced)

Entry requirements:
One of the following:

  • A Foundation Diploma/Higher Diploma in Sport and Active Leisure
  • A BTEC First in a related subject
  • At least five GCSEs at grade A*-C, including English Language

Course assessment:
The Sport and Active Leisure Diploma is assessed using a combination of assignments and external tests. You will also complete a work experience placement that will assist you in completing your assignments.

To achieve the full Diploma (equivalent to 3.5 A levels) you need to successfully complete all of the above and also pass the following:

  • Functional Skills (in ICT / Maths / English)
  • An Extended Project (chosen subject / area to be approved by staff)

What will I learn?
You will study a range of units from three themes: Sport and Active Leisure and the Individual, the Economy and the Community. Units include:

  • Impact of an Active and Healthy Lifestyle
  • Sport and Active Leisure in the Economy
  • Encouraging Opportunities for All in Sport and Active Leisure

Units are delivered by subject specialists and you will have the opportunity to gain work experience within the industry.

Which other courses link well with this subject?
The Sport and Active Leisure Diploma will make up the bulk of your study time at KGV, however there may be opportunities to study for an AS level alongside the Diploma.
