Who is the course for?
Existing childcare workers who want to move into school settings.
Adults new to the childcare and education sector.
Existing teaching assistants who want to update their knowledge and skills.

What is the course about?

Will I need anything else?
You will need to arrange a placement in a school prior to the start of the course. You should work for at least 120 hours in a school setting.
Attendance at study support workshops may be required to develop basic skills.
The school placement may request a police check.

How long & often do I attend?
This course is offered as a one year programme with attendance for 1 session per week (2.5 hours per week).

How will I be assessed?
You will have one internally marked assignment and one externally marked assignment.

What opportunities will this lead to?
Employment as a level 2 teaching assistant working under supervision within a school. You may also progress to a level 3 course including, DCE or Level 3 Certificate for Teaching Assistants.
