About this course

Gain confidence in exploring your own ideas through life drawing.
Utilise mixed-media creatively.
Respond quickly to fast and dynamic poses.

All basic materials for the course are provided.
Students will be invited to bring their own props, masks etc to contribute to each session.

How to communicate ideas and narratives through the human form.
Exciting themes to inspire creative interpretation.

Take inspiration from the work of modern and contemporary artists who have worked with the body
Introduction to different themes by responding to imagery, film and music from different eras and cultures.

Additional information

You may wish to develop your work taking an experimental approach to working from the model by enrolling on ‘Contemporary approaches to the figure’ or ‘Life drawing: develop experimental approaches’. Alternatively, you may wish to focus on mixed media and collage by joining ‘Mixed media drawing and collage’ or ‘Contemporary collage and mixed media’. If you are interested in studying the figure in movement, look out for our collaborations with the English National Ballet: Essence of Movement courses.
