About this course

- Create a rough cut using the storyboard facility in Aoobe Premiere Pro CC
- lace/edit/move clips using icons/keyboard short-cuts
- Use video scopes to preform advanced colour management
- Use effects and equalisers to produce better sound quality
- Relate common narrative construction techniques as relevant to your own work.

You may want to purchase removable storage to collect and keep your data safe, though you will have your own account in class where you can accumulate your work from week to week.
You might also want to consider purchasing other books related to the subject of film making and editing. We will also provide you with a range of hand-outs free of charge and you can make use of books in the library.
Please note that a portable hard drive/USB stick if PC formatted can be read by Apple mac computers, but not written to.

Course programme

- Workflow - is there a best practice and what does it look like for you?
- Rough cut to fine tune – editing shortcuts and tips
- Narrative structures – editing ideologies
- Better colour management – video scopes
- Better sound – effects and equalisers.

Each session will be a mixture of demonstrations and hands-on exercises, allowing for some individual tutorial support. There may be forum sessions were we will look at each other’s work to discuss different aspects of editing/ filmmaking in general and its common techniques. Asking questions and commenting is encouraged at all times. Handbooks, manuals and worksheets are available. You will be taught with workshops, short lectures, practical exercises, tutorials and hand outs. Please note the City Lit uses Apple Mac computers in Digital arts, Graphics & Illustration and Photography.

Additional information

By the end of the course you should be comfortable to do get on with some basic editing and work with your own material. You may want to join the stage 3 editing class, or one of the other more specialized moving image classes, like a production or lighting class.
