Course content:
This course meets the requirements of IALA Model Course V-103/4 and prepares participants in the theories and skills of on-job-training (OJT) with particular focus on coaching, communication and evaluation.
On successful completion, participants will conduct on-job-training, participate in formal evaluations and make recommendations respecting certification status of assigned trainees within the context of IALA V-103.
The course content is divided into six modules totalling 21 hours of instruction and practice and is delivered over a three (consecutive) day period.
The course is global in scope, and develops in each OJT the ability to direct and evaluate successfully trainee performance results with emphasis on the Outcome/Objective/Skill matrix as recommended in IALA V103/3.
The work environment of the OJT and trainee is 'real-time' as opposed to classroom: therefore, emphasis is placed on job-centred situations rather than theoretical models and includes the use of learning resources and activities that are readily available at the VTS Centre.
Within this context, the training environment of OJT and trainee is intended to focus on small-group and one-on-one instruction techniques.
