This is a One Year Course which is designed at a basic level of bakery. It is a practical work related course covering a range of different topics relating to the bakery trade. Areas focused on range from Health, Safety and Hygiene to preparing the work area for dough production.

No entry requirements are needed, however a good standard of general education will be required. This is together with a keen interest of the bakery trade and an enthusiastic approach to learning a new skill.

Entry RequirementsNo entry requirements are needed, however a good standard of general education will be required. This is together with a keen interest of the bakery trade and an enthusiastic approach to learning a new skill.
Course Content
The course is "Unit" based and you will be required to prepare and bake a variety of items/products using pre-prepared, convenience and fresh products, to a good standard. Health, Safety and Hygiene are a major concern and therefore these units will be covered as individual units.
How will I be assessed?
The course is "Unit" based with underpinning knowledge input to meet students requirements and understanding practical activities. Assessments take place during the 36 week course with phase tests taking place to ascertain student's understanding. A portfolio of evidence will be produced demonstrating student's ability and competence in each unit.
What can I do next?
Bakery skills, NVQ Level 2 will be the progression route.
