Study Method:
This is a very practically based course. Various study methods are used, including practical catering and patisserie classroom activities, formal class meetings, project work and discussion groups. Students will be expected to work in the training kitchen and "Bistro" restaurant as part of their course.
Duration :1 year full-time
Who the Course is For:
This one year course is for those who wish to take an initial qualification and follow a career in the catering industry. It is anticipated that most students will continue there studies to C&G 7100 Professional Cookery level 2
Assessment:
Course assessment method is by formal written tests for the theory component and by two practical cookery assessments phased through the year. Students will be expected to devise their own menu for the practical assessment. A pass, merit or distinction can be achieved in the practical test.
Course Leads To:
It is anticipated that the majority of students will chose to progress to the second year. However, there are a variety of career opportunities available to successful students. These include work as a chef in hotels, restaurants, hospitals and similar establishments.
