About this course
You will need 4 GCSEs at grade E or above, with Maths and English at Entry Level 3 or above. You must also demonstrate a willingness to learn, to attend all of your taught sessions and be on time for all lessons.

This exciting course helps provide knowledge & skills for you to progress onto a course in health, care or early years at a higher level. You will also develop a range of skills essential for work in the health and social care sector.
What will I learn?
You will study a range of interesting units to give you a broad understanding of Health, Social Care and Early years sectors. Units you will study include: Starting work in HSC; Exploring local services; Diversity in public services; Healthy body; Working in HSC; Financial management; Developing skills HSC; Looking after children. NCFE Level 2 certificate in volunteering Lessons are delivered in a variety of ways to ensure lessons are kept interesting, there will be guest speakers, practical activities, independent study & teaching and learning sessions. You will take part in a work placement in a suitable child, health or care setting where you will be encouraged to develop a range of skills for work in care. A Criminal Records Background Check for this is required, and the paperwork for this must be completed before the end of September prior to undertaking work placements. You will also wear a uniform in College and at work placements. The cost of one uniform is approximately £15.
How will I be assessed?
Your tutors will guide you through various assignments to help you to achieve your qualification. You will also need to produce work for literacy and numeracy.
What can I do after the course?
You can progress onto a level 2 First Diploma in Health and Social care/Children's Care, Learning and Development. You can progress onto a level 2 course in a different curriculum area.
