Course description The programme is designed for people who are already working in the catering industry as some of the required hours are industry based and on-going assessment in the workplace needs to be assessed and logged. There are 4 mandatory units (13 Credits required to pass): Health and safety - working environment; Working as part of a team; Food safety; Maintaining and handling knives. There are 14 food preparation and cooking units: Various skills (58 Credits required to pass). Workplace assessment.

3. Entry requirements Experience working in the catering industry within a kitchen environment. Students will need reasonably good literacy and numeracy skills and a reasonably good command of the English language. 4. Equipment required No equipment required 5. Assessment method The NVQ Level 2 Diploma is a basic cookery programme completed in unit sections, 3 or 4 weeks per unit until completion. A portfolio also has to be produced in order to obtain this City and Guilds Qualification. The Learning takes place both in theory and practical classrooms. The classrooms are modern with up to date equipment. Assessments are on-going weekly throughout the year, but some more structured assessments take place at different points in the programme.
