To develop drawing and painting skills within the discipline of watercolour. to improve existing skills and develop self expression in your work. To encourage confidence in your ability.

What will you study
Topics covered include varieties of paint and surface textures of paper. The versatility of brushstrkes, laying of washes ( to include flat, gradated, blendedand granulated.) Study of the colour wheel and its application in painting. The total scale and monochromatic painting. How to draw for painting and use of a sketch book. The use of textures and resists and how to compose landscapes and still-lifes.

How will you be assessed
Student achievement record and verbally individually.

Additional information
More progress will be achieved by practising the weekly exercises and looking up references suggested. Materials/equipment required for first class: paints and brushes, palette, ruler, pencil jars and paint rag.
