What do I need to get on the course? We welcome applications from people over 16 who have a genuine interest in children and a suitable personality. You will need to provide one satisfactory reference. You are also expected to complete a disclosure of criminal background form/police check and a health questionnaire.

Caring for children demands great sensitivity and compassion. We therefore seek mature candidates, and welcome members of both sexes, since men are under-represented in this area of work.

What will I study? Covers: pregnancy and the responsible parent, caring for young children, play and learning in the home, an introduction to information technology.You attend the college for a minimum of 180 hours and should expect to spend another 180 hours (minimum) on your own private study: reading, researching and working on written assignments.

What qualification will I get? Entry Level Certificate for Childcare (CACHE - Council for Awards in Children's Care and Education).

What can I do after the course? Level 1 Introduction to Child Care or level 2 courses in Child Care if you have 60-80 hours of group experience children plus two satisfactory references.

How much does the course cost? Concessionary students pay a £40 annual registration charge which covers any courses where concessions are available.
