Excellent restaurant supervisors and bar service managers are crucial to the success of the hospitality business. As the public face of the industry, what you do and say has a big impact on the customer experience. Successful professionals go on to work at prestigious hotels, restaurants, cool cocktail bars, resorts and events both in the UK or overseas.

You will be taught by industry experts who will equip you with the practical service skills, confidence and knowledge to excel as a waiter, waitress or future manager in the food and drink service industry.

Whatever you choose, our Level 2 and 3 courses will prepare you for the world of work and help you progress in your career quicker than candidates without formal training.

University College Birmingham has two award-winning restaurants, the Atrium and the Brasserie, and this course focuses on practical experience in these real working environments.

About this course

Level 2 opens up a huge range of career opportunities, both in the UK and overseas, in: restaurants; hotels; licensed premises, like pubs and cocktail bars; cruise ships; corporate hospitality; and banqueting.

Many of our students have been promoted to supervisory and management positions in the hospitality sector.

On successful completion of Level 3, students can progress on to UCB’s foundation degree/degree in Hospitality Business Management or other relevant degree subjects such as Culinary Arts Management, Events Management and Food and Nutrition.

Level 2 Food and Beverage Service
Ideally, you will require a minimum of 4 GCSEs at grade 3 (grade D) or above. However, our hospitality lecturers are looking for students who are keen to work in a customer-focused environment and who would like to develop ‘soft skills’ like communication and teamwork to boost personal development, so please contact us if you have not achieved these grades.
School applicants will be required to provide a good school report, which must include attendance.
