Great British Bake Off still on the television and you know you want to try it? Do you fancy yourself as the next great baker or fancy having a go at the age old tradition but often feared, Home Baking
If so then this is the course to attend. This non-commercial workshop will enlighten the candidate to the delights of cakes, biscuits, puddings and pies
As well as looking at some of the basic rules of health, safety and hygiene in the home kitchen the course will cover the theory, preparation and production of the traditional home baked recipes. It is envisage that each session will produce a different product allowing the candidate to go away with the knowledge and confidence to reproduce at home and experiment with options
Currently the practical workshop covers:
- Victoria sandwich with buttercream and jam (with 6 cupcakes)
- Cookies / Biscuits
- Scones with quick homemade jam
- Chocolate fudge cake
Special Requirements
Additional Equipment - Students will be expected to bring their own equipment or purchase some tools prior to and during the course as well as bring materials/ingredients with them on certain weeks.
You will need to bring an apron/overall for all sessions and rolling pin on occasion and should you wish to, please feel free to bring your own camera along to take photographs of the tutor demonstrations and your own handy work on the day!

Regrettably the College does not receive funding for the provision of learning support for students with additional learning needs attending Short Courses, which are run on a full-cost basis. The College's Learning Support Service may be able to provide support but it is the responsibility of the student to meet the cost.
