2. Course description Summary: An excellent introduction to varying aspects of the catering/hospitality industry, but primarily aimed at professional cooking/food service Course description: Most of the learning on this course takes place through active involvement in food preparation, cookery and service workshops, supported by classroom based theory from a highly motivated and skilled delivery team. As part of your course, you will be expected to complete English and Maths to a C standard or above, if not previously achieved. As well as the City College Norwich hotel school level 2 certification, you can also gain other qualifications on this course, including Level 2 Certificate in Hospitality & Catering Principals, Level 1 Food and Beverage Service and Level 2 Certificate in Food Safety. As well as learning within the practical workshops and classroom based theory sessions, you will have the opportunity to practice and apply your skills in our two restaurants, undertake additional work experience and participate in external events such as the Norfolk in Harmony Restaurant at the Royal Norfolk Show. We also have excellent links with local and regional employers. In addition to your main programme, you will study English and Maths. Depending on your grades on entry, you will study either Functional Skills or GCSEs English and Maths. Please check our English and Maths page for further information. Objective: If you would like a career in preparing and/or serving food in any sector of the catering, hospitality industry, this course is for you. It will give you the foundation skills and knowledge you need and a recognised qualification when you successfully complete the course.
