Working Together: Support Childrens Numeracy is a free* course which looks at how numeracy is taught in primary schools. The course also gives ideas for supporting learning at home and also includes an opportunity to gain a numeracy qualification at an adult level.

What will I study?
The course will look at:
New methods for addition, subtraction, multiplication and division
The Primary Framework for Numeracy
Numeracy games and activities
Vocabulary and terms used in schools
Gaining an adult qualification
How will I learn?
There is one three hour session per week, which will include informal discussions, note-taking, reading information, watching dvds, completing practical tasks etcThere will also be some activities to carry out between sessions.
How will I be assessed?
A college certificate will be awarded to anyone who completes the course. There is also an opportunity to gain a certificate from the Open College Network by submitting a portfolio. The Adult Numeracy Qualification will take the form of a multiple choice, one hour paper.
Where could it lead?
Learners who have completed the Working Together courses may consider taking Teaching Assistant, or other childcare, qualifications.
