The manufacturing environment requires many stringent food safety controls to be in place with traceability of product being of paramount importance. The sound theoretical knowledge gained through the qualification will allow management to confidently ensure the safe production of food in any manufacturing / catering environment from ingredients intake to final product despatch or from cooked and served to the customer.  On achieving a HABC/CIEH Level 4 Food Safety Qualification, competence to safely supervise others will also be demonstrated through a summative assessment at the end of the course. As an employee or an employer this would ensure the way forward for management to necessitate the underpinning knowledge to ensure correct information is sent out to the staff and communicate all necessary requirements. To ensure food safe systems of work are maintained, monitored and reviewed. Thus help retain future insurance of the production of safe food.

Entry level three


Two and a half hour written exam HABC Two and a half hour exam plus two assignments CIEH.

What next?

From this award a level four in Management through the ILM or an NVQ route, with additional chance for progression to level five. Also PTTLS for people who wish to take the training route and teach level two food safety in their place of work. Please check with your awarding body first for centre status. As an employee or an employer this would ensure the way forward for management or trainers to necessitate the underpinning knowledge to ensure correct information is delivered to the staff and communication of all necessary requirements is understood and in place.
