To convey the real benefits of appraisals.
About the programme
This programme provides anintroduction to appraisals, setting out key points which will ensure that any appraisal is beneficial to both manager and employee. It explores appraisal as a management skill, explaining how it is a management system that is widely adopted. It demonstrates how an employee's appraisal is conducted by a line manager, and details the documentation which needs to be drawn up between you and kept on file.
The humorous drama sees Mel and Griff trying their hand at appraising one another - and discovering that poor procedures and ill-informed attitudes have no place. They show the importance of openly discussing the subject before, during and after the event, and of following key procedures such as: setting the scene, ensuring a two-way dialogue, agreeing objectives jointly, and agreeing the way forward.
