To become a chef, you will need much more than love to cook. Chefs are responsible for the activity behind the doors of a kitchen. They are the ones creating the menu and giving a direct food service at restaurants. In order to make sure everything goes as planned in their kitchen, they typically hire sous chefs, cooks and kitchen staff.

A chef specializes in more than one type of cuisine, they master the cooking techniques and tools in order to go beyond and create their own culinary trends. Having a college degree is not necessary to become a Chef, a lot of them do a technical college or attend a Culinary Art School.

Most of the chefs travel abroad to learn the fundamentals of food preparation and honing their skills and developing their own style, with the aim of building their reputation in the kitchen.

However, there are necessary skills for all chefs; coking is one of them, but you will also need to have business and management skills, communication and creativity.
