Are you a person from outside UK who would like to pursue studies in the ‘Land of Hope and Glory’? You don’t know from where to start? In this post, we will show key information for this dreamy purpose. First of all, you should be aware of what you face: UK education institutions rank among the best in the world. So, the challenge is going to be huge.

There are thousands of people choosing UK to study because of its creative but rigorous study environment, the fact of developing English skills and possibility of making friends from around the world – with different culture backgrounds and perspectives. UK education has everything!

Application for international students
Primarily, you should remember these letters: UCAS. The Universities and Colleges Admissions is responsible for the application processes for British universities. Even if you want to enrol in a bachelor’s degree, a master’s degree or any other further education, this institution will receive your application and manage it.

Step-by-step guides and videos are available on their website with all process details. UCAS will evaluate candidate qualifications and the content of a written personal statement you must send as an admission requirement – demonstrating passion for the subject area, and personal skills that will enable you to succeed at university.

And how about visas?
After being admitted, visa comes as the next requirement especially if you are a non-EU candidate (Brexit is not an issue yet because there will be no change to the rights and status of EU nationals living in the UK while it is still in the EU – and it’s going to take a while).

For student visa, confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) from a university approved by UK Visa and Immigration is step-one. The next one is funding. You need to prove that you have enough cash to secure both your course tuition fees and your monthly living costs. Also, proving your level of English.

This eligibility requirement usually means passing a secure English language test (SELT) and for any Higher Education Institution (HEI), an English level equivalent to B2 CEFR (Common European Framework for languages) is the minimum, unless you come from an Anglospeaking country.

All things considered, remember to pay healthcare surcharge and the £348 student visa fee, having a current passport, and being tested for tuberculosis if you are coming from these countries. The student visa allows you to work – depending on the level of your course and the kind of sponsor you have, and to bring family members (dependants).

On the next post, we will give you information about scholarships and everything regarding student life. Check out the courses Emagister has listed and submerge yourself into the options we have in case you are considering UK to study. Never give up because great things take time!
