Course Structure:
This course runs for 5 terms, tuition fees are £600 per year.
The course has a substantial workload, considerably more than a CELTA course. It involves: 150 hours of logged teaching of whole classes. 6 hours of your logged teaching will be observed and assessed by your course tutors, 2 in the first year and 4 in the second year (the final 2 of which must pass). You will be assessed at two different levels (e.g. Entry 1/2/3 and Level 1/2); 240 hours of input which will extend your knowledge of methodology and language and will cover areas of general learning theory and issues relating to FE. There will also be input on special needs, such as dyslexia, educational policy and literacy as well as numeracy. Regular tutorial and support workshops will be held. There will be 10 written assignments, one of which will involve researching an area of language or methodology and giving a 15 minute presentation on it using ICT. There is also a numeracy assignment that involves addressing students' numeracy needs in ESOL lessons. It is expected that you will spend at least 300 hours on reading, lesson planning, reflection and research. You will keep a detailed portfolio of your logged teaching as well as an online reflective journal throughout the course.

Course resources:
All students have access to our fully equipped state of the art learning centre. This included free internet access.

Assessment:
The literacy assignment is externally assessed in year 2; language knowledge is assessed externally by Cambridge in the Knowledge about Language exam. Internal assessment of other assignments.
