“We are living in a material world” the one and only Queen of Pop once said. Receiving a salary check every month is not the only aspiration we have these days: we also want it to be thick. But let’s face it: the common place has always been ‘if you want to be successful, you must study’.

Not so accurate. Fortunately, there is a bunch of well-paid jobs in the UK that don’t require so much training. The new era we are currently living on –with the consequent changes it has brought to the world– make this possible. Here is a list of examples you can find interesting.

The digital industry
Being a content writer, Youtuber, blogger or the highly desired ‘influencer’ might benefit you monetarily without any especial degree. Of course you can always follow a Digital Marketing course to find what those mysterious SEO, CRO or PPL are about.

However, if you know how to handle a videocamera and get inside the Facebook and Instagram spiderweb (social media is today the most common language in the world) you will be ready to earn upwards of £50,000. Just remember: creativity makes the difference.

Mining construction
A mine construction might take you far away from home – sometimes to South America, Africa or Australia; but for sure feeling ‘homesick’ pays well. Even though having degrees in civil engineering or geology is widely needed, they can hire you as workforce to oversee installations. The expecting salary? Up to £25,000.

Firefighter
Although you need training to be a firefighter, the starting salary is up to £20,000 so it’s a good idea if helping others runs in your blood. During the application process you’ll have to pass a series of physical tests and taking updating courses constantly. Just consider that being calm at challenging situations is the number 1 ability you need to solve emergencies.

Sales Executive
Natural charm and spoken skills are good features for this job. If you think you’re able to ‘make the sell’, then working as a sales executive –and its starting salary of £12,000– is for you. Good news is that you can always evolve to sales manager and commissions represent an important plus too.

Pilot and cabin crew
Your destiny might be over clouds. In order to be a commercial pilot, you’ll need a minimum of GCSEs and two A-levels but the payment is not less than £30,000. Similar situations is for flight attendants, who should follow a course of four weeks. Both benefit from free accommodation, a separate salary for long-haul flights and the fact of seeing the world.
